Social Problems discussed assignment
Your assignment is to hand in a typed, double-spaced, four-to-six page paper on the following topic. Late papers will be accepted up to one class late with a five-point penalty and up to two classes late with a ten-point penalty; after two classes, no late papers will be accepted without special approval from the instructor.
In one way or another, every one of your Canvas readings helps to humanize and visualize the social problems we have been discussing throughout this semester including, among others, poverty, homelessness, racism, discrimination, substance abuse, crime, sexism, exploitation, oppression, child labor, debt bondage, and sexual trafficking. For this paper, you have three jobs to do. First, picking any single or small group of readings from your Canvas readings that meaningfully resonated with you either by speaking to your own personal experiences with the social problem that reading or those readings focused on or by helping to make you more socially aware of that social problem, tell us why that reading or those readings meaningfully resonated with you. Second, tell us what you learned from that reading or those readings that may help you think about that social problem in a new light or in a different light in the future from the way you may have thought about that social problem in the past. And third, using this increased knowledge, present three concrete policy proposals that you think might best address this social problem in the future while telling us why you chose to present these three proposals.
