Describe one internal and one external method for the dissemination of your evidence-based change proposal. For example, an internal method may be the hospital board, and an external method may be a professional nursing organization. Discuss why it is important to report your change proposal to both of these groups. How will your communication strategies change for each group?

It’s important to report my change proposal to the nursing staff because they are directly involved in patient care. They would know better than anyone, what would work best with these types of patients. A good communication strategy would be to hold a staff meeting, and providing them with the information of my change project, and what positive outcomes it would have on the patient’s healthcare. An external method would be getting a nursing organization involved, such as the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). This could be presented in a conference with the organization, and this would be a great way to implement a new work flow for nurses at hospitals. Mental disorders are a leading cause of disability worldwide, accounting for upwards of 32% of years lived with disability and 13% of disability adjusted life years (Vigo et al., 2016). This would improve patient care, and be a great way to collaborate, and involve other allied health care providers.
