Examine the children’s section of your local bookstore. Consider and ponder the following questions:
What exactly is in the collection?
How does the collection help young adolescents with cultural and linguistic diversity, language development, and reading acquisition? Consider the variety of books available, as well as the genres.
Is the bookstore environment conducive to children’s engagement with high-quality literature, high-quality informational texts, and electronic sources? If so, how so?
Reflect on your observations in 250-500 words. Make a note of any special staffing and/or events. Compare and contrast your findings with those of the public library.
Prepare this assignment in accordance with the APA guidelines found in the Student Success Center’s APA Style Guide.
